Basically u need to fullfill certain terms and conditions of having 75% in pcm and above 60% in english in ur 12th examination and then attempt for the paper of merchant navy..

if you are a science student with physics, chemistry, maths in your 12th class, then you

are eligible to get direct entry for the post of Deck Cadets in the Merchant Navy....

after getting direct entry you are required to undergo basic pre-sea training arranged by

the recruiting company itself ....

There are four Government Training Institutes providing Pre-Sea and Post-Sea training of international standard :

To join their is a criteria of having 60% marks in maths science in 10+2.
after that u fill form from the website merchant navy.......follow the age group for it................

As you are a student of class 12th Science Stream there are following courses (Undergraduate Level):---

1.3 year degree course in Nautical Science (Institutions :
TS Chanakya (Through IIT-JEE)
Southern Academy of Maritime Studies (Chennai),
Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (Chennai)

2- 4 year degree course in Marine Engineering
Institutions :
MERI (Through IIT-JEE)
Tolani Maritime Institute (Mumbai)
Southern Academy of Maritime Studies (Chennai),
Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (Chennai))

3 -3 month course for Deck Cadets


Institutions offering training: TS Bhadra (Kolkata), TS Mekhala (Vishakapatanam), TS Navlakshmi, Southern Academy of Maritime Studies (Chennai)

In addition, a candidate can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.

There are various other institutes like Academy of Maritime Education and Training (chennai), National Institute of Port Management (Uthandi, Chennai), International Maritime Institute (Greater Noida UP) etc, which offer various courses in maritime studies.

Hii rohit,

after 12th you have a chance to jion merchant nevy to apper in the NDA exam .. If you clear the exam its good and good luck to you ..

you are a science student so i give you a second option also if hard luck you cannot clear the exam so you be a part of CDS exam in your graduation time then again you jion the Navy..

You are a science student after 12th appear on the NDA exam and choose your way..

one other way to jion army or navy
that called thriugh CDS exam this may be appear in your bechlor degree..

It seems that you are afraid of studying maths but no problem , you can get rid of maths by taking pcb in your 11th class and then you can opt for the below career options after 12 class:-

Those candidates who are very serious about there career and they are doing very hard work towards there work then sure they will get a chance to make there career. So if you are also worried about your career just after the 12th class and you want to make your career in Merchant Navy then this is also the best way to make good career early. Merchant Navy welcomes all the young science students. The minimum marks required in 12th class are 60%. So you can apply for the Merchant Navy.

Since you are already a B.Tech you are eligible to join this stream. But since you are not from the marine engineering stream you will need to go through the one year of pre sea training. Also you have more than the minimum of 50% marks which is the minimum requirement. You need to select the institute from which you plan to do the course. You will need to appear for an entrance exam for joining that institute. On clearing the test you will need to appear for an interview round. Only on clearing this will you be able to join the institute for training. But before that you will also need to undergo a physical fitness test. There will be a thorough check up as it is a must in this field. After training you can choose which company you would like to work for.

To join in Merchant Navy which is a non-combat fleet and it is used as a transportation of vessels,cargo's,tankers and heavy vehicles.You cannot join in it with a qualification of just completing +2.

You need to do the following courses in order to be eligible to join in Merchant Navy

• B.E Marine Engineering
• M.E Marine Engineering
• B.sc Nautical Science

First and for most eligibility that candidate need to have is that the candidate must be a citizen of India

The candidate must pass medical fitness test for sea service with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

B.E Marine Engineering:

The duration for this course is 4 years and for for joining in this course the candidate must have completed respected +2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as subjects.


B.sc Nautical Science:

The duration for this course is 3 years and for eligibility joining in this course the candidate must have completed respected +2 with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English with a fair percentage.

M.E Marine Engineering:

The duration for this course is 2 years and for for joining in this course the candidate must have completed B.E Marine Engineering with a fair percentage.
