What is the age limit for appeering in exam of IAS and other civil services?Please give detail.

for IAS exam age is 21 to 30 years 5 years relaxation for SC/ST candidate 3 years for OBC candidate Candidate must be an INDIAN Candidate pass graduation 4 times attempts for General candidate 7 times for OBC candidate no limits for SC/ST candidate |

To be eligible for IAS exam and other civil services exam, conducted by UPSC, a candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, in the year of examination.
The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable in the follwing cases: SC or ST : upto a maximum of five years. OBC : upto a maximum of three years. State of Jammu & Kashmir (Domiciled during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989): upto a maximum of five years. Defence Services personnel : upto a maximum of five years (disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof) Ex-servicemen including Commissioned officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st July, 2007 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st July, 2007) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or (iii) on invalidment: upto a maximum of five years. ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st July, 2007 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month's notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment : upto a maximum of five years. Blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons: upto a maximum of ten years. |

(i) Age limits :
21-30 years as on 1.7.2011. (Upper age limit relaxable for SCs/STs, OBCs and certain other categories as specified in Para 3(ii) of Notice). (ii) Educational Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification. |

(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989. A candidiate must have attained 21yrs and not more than 30yrs on august 1 of the yr of the examination
The upper age limit is relaxed in several cases : -Uptoa maximum of 5yrs if belongs to SC/ST -upto a maximum of 3yrs if belongs to OBS -upto a maximum of 5yrs if the candidiate being domiciled in J& K -upto a maximum of 10yrs if the candidiate is physically handicapped or blind /deaf |

the minimum minimum age limit for appearing for general is 21. and the maximum age limit for appearing for general is 30. but for sc/st maximum upto 5 years and for obc maximum upto 3 years. all the very best. |

The eligibility criteria for appearing in IAS exam conducted by UPSC is that a person should hold a bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognised university. The age limit is as follows-
* For General category- 21 to 30 years * For SC/ST category- 21 to 35 years * For OBC category- 21 to 33 years A person can appear in IAS prelims during the final year of his graduation. He should be a citizen of India. Number of attempts- * For General category- 4 * For SC/ST category- No limit * For OBC category- 7 There are 3 stages of IAS exam- * Prelims * Main exam * Interview |
