Please suggest me that can i eligible for NET exams, as i am 34 years old

Upper age limit for NET is constrained only for JRF. For this candidate must be below 28 years. There are no upper age restrictions for JRF (Lectureship). Apart from this, you need to have master’s degree from a recognized institute. The qualification must be obtained with a minimum of 55% marks.

NET stands for National Eligibility Test which is conducted by the University Grants Commission .

This exam is conduct for -

1)JRF
2)Lectureship post
3)PHD admission

Educational Qualification:-

Age criteria for NET Exam:-

i) Junior Research Fellowship : Not more than 28 years . Age relaxation upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to SC / ST / PWD / OBC .

ii) Lectureship : There is no upper age limit .

Your age is now 34 years old so you are applicable for NET Exam but you are applicable only for lectureship post .

For General candidates, the examination fee is Rs. 450/-; for Other Backward Classes fee is Rs. 225/- and for SC/ST/PWD candidates, it is Rs. 110/-. .

NET stands for National Eligibility Test NET Conducted by UGC......

yes , you are eligible for National Eligibility Test exam but only Lectureship Post....

A candidate who have completed their Post Graduation degree/Master Degree in any Discipline with 55% marks are eligible for applying for it.....

For Required 50% marks for SC/ST.....

There is no any Age Criteria for applying Lectureship Post but for Junior Research Fellowship Post age not Exist 28 years this exam.....

There is difference between National Eligibility Test is other entrance exams conducted by the central government. In most entrance exams, 30 years is the maximum age limit, but this rule is not followed for National Eligibility Test.

The University Grants Commission conducts the National Eligibility Test for JRF and lectureship. The age limit depends on whether you are applying for Junior Research Fellowship or the lectureship.

The age limit is 28 years if applying for the Junior Research Fellowship, however if your intention is to apply for college lectureship, then you don't have to worry about age limit.

There is no upper age limit for the college lectureship candidates. You will be able to apply for the entrance exam if lectureship is your target. But not in the case of JRF. I am writing down all the criteria for the exam below.


Eligibility

1. Ensure you have post graduation degree.

2. The degree should be completed with at least 55 percent marks.

3. SC/ST need 50 percent marks.

4. There is no relaxation for OBC.

5. You can also appear for NET during final year of PG course.

6. Your NET subject should be related to PG course.

7. There is no limit on the attempts for NET.

8. Age limit for JRF is 28 years.

9. OBC candidates applying for JRF have 31 years as age limit.

10. Similarly SC/ST candidates have 33 years as age limit.

11. But for lectureship, there is no upper age limit.

NET - National Eligibility Test conducted by UGC for selection of Lectureship and award to Junior Research Fellowship(JRF).

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having completed Post Graduation Degree in any stream from a recognised University with 55% marks, can apply for NET.

There is no upper age restriction for those applying for Lectureship but the candidate applying for JRF should be within 28 years of age.

So at the age of 34 years you can apply for NET Lectureship.

NET Exam is conducted for:
Lecturership
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)

Age Limit:
Lectureship-No age limit

So, you cannot apply for the JRF.

But YES, you can apply for Lectureship

Educational Qualifications for the UGC-NET exams is:
Post Graduation pass
Minimum 55% marks in Post Graduation for the General and OBC candidates

Whether you can appear in the NET Exam even if you are 34 years age depends totally on the post for which you are willing to apply.

I Mean to say that the National Eligibility Test is conducted for the following posts :

a) Junior Research Fellowship

b) Lectureship

Now , if you want to apply for the Junior Research Fellowship post , then sorry to say but you cannot apply because the age limit for this post is just 21-28 years.

However , you can apply for the post of lectureship , at any age because there is no age bar in NET Exam for this post.

Considering the age limit , to be eligible to appear in the NET Exam , you too have to fulfill the other required criteria that are mentioned below :

* you must have completed post graduation in any stream from any recognized university.

* you must have secured a minimum of 55% marks in post graduation.

* There is a relaxation of 5% marks for candidates belonging to SC/ST Category.

* No Relaxation in marks is provided to OBC Candidates.

* Candidates in final year of post graduation can also apply for the National Eligibility Test.

* There is no bar on the number of attempts for this exam.

Note : University Grants Commission (UGC) conducts the National Eligibility Test twice in a year in the months of June and December.

Dear "Hemant Karnal" it depends upon the type of examination you want to appear which is conducted by UGC-NET.There are two types of exams which is conducted by the UGC-NET.These two exams are :-

1. Junior Research Fellowship.
2. Lecturership.

For each educational qualification which is required is same but for one exam there is age limitations.


If you want to apply for Junior Research Fellowship Exam ,then you will not be apply for this exam.To apply for this exam,your age should be within 28 years and candidates who have crossed this age limit will not be able to apply for this exam.However candidates who belong from the reserved category get age relaxations facility.

• Candidates of OBC category will get 3 years of age relaxations.
• Candidates of SC/ST category will get 5 years of age relaxations.

If you are Interested for applying in Lecturership Exam,then for your Kind information i would like to inform you that "There is no age Limitations" for Lecturership Exam.


To apply for this exam,you will require to meet these eligibility conditions :

• Your minimum educational qualification should be Post Graduation degree pass out from recognized university.
• If you comes under the General/OBC Category then your minimum marks in PG course should be 55%.
• If you comes under the SC/ST category then your minimum marks in PG course should be 50%.

Exam Pattern for UGC-NET

• This exam will include three papers.
• Paper I & II will be of 1 hour and 20 minutes and Paper III will be 2 hour and 30 minutes.
• For Paper I & II number of questions to be solved will be 50.
• For Paper III number of questions to be solved will be 75.
• All questions will be of objective type.
