The most standard books of Physics for IIT-JEE preparation are listed as under;

Concepts of Physics by H.C.Verma for both theory and numericals.
This book is sufficient to serve your purpose but you might require some other
books too for good command over basics and fundamentals.

Problems in Physics by I.E.Irodov (CBS Publishers) is the best book for strong
concept building along with numericals ranging from simple to very very difficult level.

First of all, you need to learn basic fundamentals in physics. Then you can improve day by day. Any kind of problem can be solved if you know basics well. The NCERT physics book is the best book to learn basics. If you feel strong enough in basics you can try to solve problems from "Concept of Physics Volume 1 & Volume 2, By H C Verma" as it consists of problems of different levels of difficulty. If you want to go for advanced kind of problems, you can try " Problems in General Physics, By I.E. Irodov (For selected problems) " . For better practical understanding of the concepts, you can refer "Fundamentals of Physics, By Halliday, Resnick & Walker
and "The Feynman Lectures on Physics Volume 1 & Volume 2, By R.P. Feynman (Very nice book, all the fundamentals are well emphasized.)". I.E. Irodov problems are really tough, don't try it if you are not well versed with the basics. Be confident and don't rush into all books which could lead to confusion.

All the books prescribed for Class IX,X,XI,&XII (NCERT) subjects:Mathematics,Physics,Chemistry.

Most books published by Indian publishers are plagiarised editions of good authors to suit IIT.JEE entrance examinations.


Math:
1.)Hall & Knight(Algebra) (It covers basic course)
2.)S.L Loney (coordinate,Trignometry,Vector)-covers basic course)
3) calculus-Ramsay
4.)R.D Sharma (Indian Edition compiled with multiple errors)
5.) M.L Khanna (compiled multiple errors)
6.) Tata Mc.Graw Hill publications have poor authors who only compile other sources.

Chemistry
For organic chemistry :Morrison & Boyd(difficult)

Read basic concepts from any one good book. Do not read any topic from too many books. Start a topic or a chapter by reading it from NCERT first.Solve all problems contained in NCERT.Then do some problems of the type asked in entrance exams from that topic. After this, you will be able to judge for yourself if reading that topic/chapter from some advanced book is necessary or not. If you feel that what you learnt from NCERT is not enough to solve questions in competitive exams then (and only then !) read that topic from some other advanced book.For this you can use "Resnik and Halliday's book". Other books can also be used according to your personal preference.

Best Books for Physics IIT JEE

The best book of Physics in terms of concepts as well as questions is the Concepts of Physics Volume 1 and Volume 2..

Concepts of Physics Volume 1

Concepts of Physics Volume 2

If you are able to successfully solve all the numerical problems of both the books then you will surely have a good chance to crack IIT JEE questions..

There is another book named " Problems in General Physics" by I.E.Irodov which is considered to be the toughest book for IIT JEE Physics..

Problems in General Physics

If you are able to solve the numerical problems of this book without the help of the solutions then there is simply nothing which can hold you back from clearing the IIT JEE paper as far as Physics is concerned..

Other than these books..refer to the past 25 years question papers by TMH publication and practice all the questions..

IIT Masters by TMH

This will give you an idea of the level of the questions generally asked in the examination..

Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Examination (IIT JEE) is conducted every year once to take qualified students for graduation course.

Eligibility criteria for IIT-JEE exam:
candidate must have passed their 10+2 examinations from a recognized board.
candidates who will be giving their final examinations of 10+2 in 2012 are also eligible to apply

Important dates for IIT JEE-2012 exam:
