Dear friend,IES stands for Indian Engineering Services..,which is conducted by UPSC every year. To qualify for the exam you need to complete minimum B.E or B.Tech and sit for the exam. You must complete through mechanical,civil,electronic and communicational or electrical stream.Age limits:20-30 for general candidates..For more please visit the official government website. The IES(Indian engineering services) exam is conducted by UPSC(Union Public Services Commission).
To be eligible for IES you have to be between 21-30 years of age and must have the following educational qualifications. 1)Completed BE/BTech in either of the streams:- i)Mechanical engineering ii)Electrical engineering iii)Civil engineering iv)Electronics and communication engineering OR 2)M.Sc. degree or equivalent with Wireless Communication, Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject is also acceptable for certain posts. NOTE-Students of final year Engineering or equivalent degree are also eligible. Hence if you are a computer science student of BTech, then you need to complete your Msc. in the felds mentioned and then you will be able to write the exam. No.. You can't write IES, because you are from CSE. Only the foll streams students can write IES.
Civil Engineering Mechanical Engg. Electrical Engg. Electronics and Tele communication Engg. Your age should be between 21 to 30years. For SC/ST - 21 to 35years For OBC -21 to 33years For PD - 21 to 40years But, if you want to go for govt.services being a CSE student you can go for civil services like IAS or IPS Details are: Age limits: You must have attained 21 years and not be over 30 years on August 1 of the year of examination. The upper age limit is relaxed in specific cases as mentioned below: upto a maximum of 5 years if the candidate belongs to SC/ST. upto a maximum of 3 years if the candidate belongs to Other Backward Classes(BC's) You must complete your Graduation Degree(No restriction in Min.Percent) Number of attempts:: - General candidates: four attempts. - Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates: No restriction. - Other Backward Classes: seven attempts. Attempts : If you belong to the “Open Category” you can give the exam 4 times maximum! If you belong to the “OBC” you can give the exam 7 times. If you belong to the “SC/ST” you can give the exam as many times as you want. There is no restriction on the number of times! IAS will be done in 3phases: 1.Civil Service Aptitude Test(CSAT) 2.Main Exams 3.Interview Exam pattern: Preliminary Examination would consist of two papers- Paper I and Paper II. Syllabus for CSAT as proposed by UPSC (Paper 1) (200 marks) - Duration : Two hrs (Paper II) (200 marks) – Duration : Two hrs The final interview is of 300 marks. You can't choose the following combination of subjects: (a) Political Science & International Relations and Public Administration; (b) Commerce & Accountancy and Management; (c) Anthropology and Sociology; (d) Mathematics and Statistics; (e) Agriculture and Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science. (f) Management and Public Administration; (g) Of the Engineering subjects, viz., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering–not more than one subject. (h) Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science and Medical Science. |

What are the subjects to be choose for appearing CSAT exam??
If a Computer Science student is opted to write IES examination what are the subjects he needed to choose from Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics ie., what are the subjects present that are present in those. Because during four years of B.Tech there are many subjects so what are the subjects to be selected? |

I’m sorry to say that the candidates from the CSE branch are not eligible to appear in the IES(Indian Engineering Services). The only branches that are eligible for appearing in the IES are- Mechanical engineering Electrical engineering Electronics and communication engineering Civil engineering If you belong to the computer science branch, then you’re not eligible for the IES, but you can applly for the PSUs if you’re interested in joining a government sector job. As per UPSC Norms "http://www.upsc.gov.in/" .A candidate possessing a degree in Engineering in any discipline is eligible for taking Engineering Service Examination.
So Dont be panic if some one who not completed the course of engg. in the 4 stream. for more details please visit site "http://www.upsc.gov.in/" and go exam section and select Frequently Asked Questions (English / Hindi).You will get all answer there. Please don't rely on POST.Try to search on appropriate web site. Please dont give suggestion if You don't have complete knowledge of any thing. |

No,you don't have such option to write IES exams for computer science.But you can write gate exam.By choosing gate as your platform also,you can get good job opportunities in better companies like infosis etc since most of all the companies first prefer the students for selecting into their jobs by the basis of gate score only,so better you can go this way and make your life bright as much you as.

Dear aspirant,
I am happy to tell you that you are eligible for IES exam.According to the UPSSC rule any one who have bechelor degree in engineering can write the IES.But there are only few papers in IES.Unfortunately there is no paper in IES for computer science students.So if you really interested in IES you can write any of the following papers of IES. Mechanical engineering Civil engineering Electrical engineering My suggestion to you that computer science quite related to Electronics.So you can write the exam in that field so that you can get more marks. Work hard and face the exam well.If you qualify in the IES I am one of the person who feel happy. ALL THE BEST. |
