Re: Can I do GME course after B.Tech.? Best college for the course?
Dear friend,
As far as I know, to apply for GME course, the candidate must be a mechanical graduate with at least 50% marks through out in his career. It is a one year training course for marine junior engineers to work on ships. As you are from electrical background you cannot apply for this course. I will suggest you to go for post graduate programs in your stream and that will be better than any thing else. You can pursue M.Tech in electrical engineering and then go for MS. Best wishes.! |

Re: Can I do GME course after B.Tech.? Best college for the course?
Hello.....GME course is only for mechanical engineering graduates but electrical engineers can apply for TEO Trainee electrical officers.Right now there is only GREAT EASTERN INSTITUTE which has this course.you need not write IMUCET.
Merchant navy is not good for girls because there is a lot of physical work.you are expected to work in the capacity of 10 persons at a time. All the best. |

Since you have finished electrical you wont be able to do GME which is for mechanical/naval architecture graduates.. If career at sea is your dream, you can opt for ELECTRO TECHNICAL OFFICER (ETO) which is being provided at many Martime Institutes... all the best for your career |

Re: Can I do GME course after B.Tech.? Best college for the course?
dg shipping requiremnts are 28 years.better you sit for exams conducted by shipping companies through employment news.they will sponser you to get a seat/admission to premier institution MERI(Marine Engineering & Research Institute),Bombay which was formerly known as the D.M.E.T(directorate of marine engineering training) as a single entity and you will be offered Post graguate diploma in marine engineering. MERI,Kolkata doesn't have PGDME and its benefit will be MERI's alumni and it's name.
marine engineering is a very challenging subject and being with the best crowd is important here. PGDME @ MERI/DMET(Bombay) is not the end.you will be sitting for xams aftr your training also..just as you do for 8 months when you are selected by any software company on land.these exams will require good patience if u are giving them from India.in india, these exams are conducted by mercantile marine department known as the MMD, a body of ministry of shipping, india.after clearing them u gt a liscence which is a prestigious thing.there will be 2 more exams after that but u ill be requiring sailing time on ship to sit for them. the field of merchant shipping requires great patience to survive as compared any other field existing at the moment and it gives you double thoughts again and again when you sit for your exams after training.it's your choice how u rate different professions like many/all rate professions on money but very rare rate on the challenge offered by the profession.apart from admission to MERI(Bombay) admission to any other private marine engineering college offering the same degree is easy. ultimately it depends on your performance whether you do four/three/one year s of marine engineering training.but lastly i'll tell u one thing that when u opt fr marine engineering subject, feel proud to be a marine engineer beacause you will be able to handle any level of stress in life.. all the best.. |
