Re: Can I do Hospitality course after passing 12th? Which is a better option for me?
Hospitality OR Hotel Management as sometimes known is a full time graduation course of 3 years duration. It is a very employable skill that every other company keeps looking for. These days, most of the businesses are based on customer satisfaction and client engagements. This makes it highly in demand and also creates its importance in the market.
If you wish to do hospitality management for your graduation, you may take up the following two specialisations in your class 11th and 12th: Commerce Arts Although, no one is stopping you from taking up Science stream also. Now, after you are done you need to sit for the IIHM Entrance which is the Indian Institute of Hotel / Hospitality Management. This is the body that conducts this exam at national level to intake hospitality management aspirants and place them at all the IIHMs across the various locations in the country. So, yes you can do Hospitality Management after you pass out of class 12th. However, please just do not stick to this career but also consider other options as well such as B.Com, BBA, B.Tech (if you have studied Science in your 12th) and other graduation courses. Some of the best options have been mentioned above. You can do these from any of the state universities such as Delhi University, Kolkata University, Mumbai University etc. These hold good value after which you should ultimately target going for MBA which would mean a complete package to lead any business. The reason which path is suggested more is because of the fact that MBAs these days get paid really well as compared to other academic back ground people. It is therefore necessary that if you wish to stay in job line, you do your MBA from the top IIMs, XLRI, NMIMS, IIFT, JBIMS, SP JAIN, IITs etc. These are the top colleges that impart best MBA education into students. Thus, for MBA you need to be a graduate in ANY stream (even hospitality management would do) and then sit for the entrances such as CAT, MAT, XAT, NMAT, GMAT, IIFT, CMAT, etc to crack these and enter the top B-Schools of this country. You would be tested on your aptitude both quantitative and verbal also logical reasoning and data interpretation. But one thing is for sure, if you crack all this then you would not have to look back on life. It would be all good for you. |
