Re: Can I be eligible for IPS after completing graduation in 1 sitting?
The requirement to appear in Civil Service Examination for IPS is graduation degree. Therefore I don't think you would have any problem.
IPS stands for Indian Police Service. To become IPS officer you are required to appear for Civil Service Examination which Union Public Service Commission conducts every year. The role of IPS officer is much more crucial than the local police in your area. The IPS officer has to maintain law and order especially in the riot like situation. In a riots like situation IPS officer could interact with top machinery of the state government including the Chief Minister and give details of the ground reality and could also recommend some actions that are required to be taken. He is also given the responsibility to provide necessary security to the VIP guests. However the crucial role of the IPS officer is in states with international borders and the naxal affected states. In these areas IPS officer has to take part in counter terrorism operations by working side by side with Border Security Force, RPF and the CRPF security forces. Eligibility The candidate should be Indian national. He should have completed at least graduation course in any stream from a recognised university. The age limit for IPS Exam is 21 to 30 years. There is 3 years relaxation for OBC candidates. The upper age is relaxed by 5 years for the SC/ST candidates. Physical Requirements Height Male - 165 cm for General while 160cm for ST. Female - 150 cm for General and 145 cm for ST. Chest: 84 cm for Men and 79 cm for Women with 5 cm expansion for both. Number of Attempts The general candidates have 4 chances to clear the exam. OBC - 7 There is no limit for SC/ST candidates. |
