Yes, you can definitely get a job in the government sector if you are interested in government jobs. You can apply for various posts like Data Entry Operator (DEO), Lower Division Clerk (LDC) etc., held under SSC and UPSC. There are also very good job opportunities available for diploma holders in Public Sector Units.

You can apply for posts in BHEL, BEL, Coal India, NTPC, NHPC etc. as an Apprentice Engineer (IT), Junior Engineer, DEO, etc. Other than this, you can also apply for various posts held under State Government in various departments. You can also apply for a job as Lab Technician or Computer Teacher/Trainer in the various Kendriya Vidyalaya (Central Schools).

You can even apply for Group C posts like Village Development Officer (V.D.O) etc.

The possibilities of getting government job after diploma course is quite low. You can apply for apprenticeship at nuclear power plants, public sector units, thermal and hydro power plants. The salary will be low.

After completing diploma, you can apply for engineering course through lateral entry entrance examination. You can join in second year of engineering course directly.

After completion of engineering degree,you can apply for gate examination through which you can get good jobs in public sector units. Gate exam score is used for getting master degree admission at top colleges in India. Your salary packages will be 10 lakhs in public sector units, if you join as graduate engineering trainee.
