B.Tech is a full time 4 years graduation program that is intended to impact technical education in the students. It is a rigorous program that involves both theory and practicals and it a professional course. Speaking of the pattern, usually students that pass out of their class 12th boards take up this engineering studies.

Here are the basic requirements about getting admission in B.Tech:

1. The candidate should be a minimum 12th class pass/appeared and results awaited with over 60% marks in it. If a student does not score this much, MOST of the B.Tech colleges do not accept for admissions.

2. The candidate must have appeared for the B.Tech entrance exams such as IIT-JEE, AIEEE, BITSAT, VITEEE, DCE, WB-JEE, SRMEEE, etc and based on his/her performance in these exams, the respective colleges would shortlist for interviews.

Apart from this, there are some college specific requirements such as IITs do not allow more than 2 attempts and that too should be consecutive. So if it has been more than 2 years after your class 12th boards, then you cannot apply for this exam. Similarly some exams demand local state domicile such as WB-JEE as it would only increase your chances of getting selected in some B.Tech college there.

Now coming to your case where you say you are already a government employee, but have not mentioned your domain or level; it is not much possible to suggest. However, doing B.Tech is a nice idea. If you feel you are in the age bracket 18-23 years, then you may surely try to apply to some of the private colleges directly too.

Some of them are Amity University, Lovely Professional University, Sharda University, SRM, VIT, and many others.

However, if you are already working and that is already with some graduation, then doing an MBA would help you better in the longer run. B.Tech is a technical course and is basically aimed at those who have not yet started their careers.
Do you have any question? or have anything to say?
