Re: Can a Maths commerce student aspire to become an IAS officer?
Quote:
the minimum qualification required for the exam is that the student must have done graduation in any field with atleast 60%marks in average. the age limit for the exam is 21to 30 years which can increase upto 35 years for sc/st students. so you can give the exam after completing your graduation. the ias exam consists of two exams, prelims and mains. The first step is to know the paper 1 and paper 2 syllabus in detail. Many IAS aspirants get confused about Prelims preparation and subject selection for Mains at this stage which is quite wrong. You DONT have to select optional subjects in Prelims, that task is for Mains exam. And quite frankly if you are just starting out dont worry too much about selecting optionals for the Mains at this stage. Rather you should concentrate on the Prelims preparation. Optional selection comes later after youve gained some knowledge of the Prelims topics and have developed a basic understanding about the Civil Services exam. Next, decide which topics from paper 1 and or paper 2 you will cover first. Lets say you start with Indian History from paper 1 which you study in the morning and afternoon and in the evening you take up mental ability from Paper 2. I always suggest you should no prepare more than 2 topics simultaneously. Rather, you should first cover one or two topics completely before moving to the next. best books for ias exam are 1. Indian History - India Struggle for Independence by Bipin Chandra; NCERT Books ( XI & XII ) 2. Geography - Spectrum 3. Indian Polity - Constitution of India by Bakshi 4. Indian Economy - Plus One, Plus Two Books, Pratiyogita Darpan 5. General Science - Tata Mc Graw Hill Guide 6. Mental Ability - Quantitative Apitude by R.S. Aggarwal 7. Current Affairs - Some magazines and Newspapers i. The Hindu/The Times of India ii. Frontline iii. Civil Service Chronicle iv. Chanakya v. Competition WIZARD vi. Civil Services Today 8. Guides 1. Tata Mc Graw Hill 2. Spectrum 3. Unique |
