Well i am also from ECE only.. you should go with ur core companies only. because what ever you studied you will undergo practicals while doin project. there are many core companies ;ike ECIL,BHEL,BSNL. many more.

You can apply for internship then only if you have studied your core subject of the EC branch (i.e in 3rd year you can easily apply for internship because maximum core subject have been completed).
