I got my score around 78 in GATE (ME)2011...what would be my AIR?...

This year mechanical gate paper was very simple compare to all other branches paper. if you are getting 78 marks, then definitely you will be in top 10, if your luck will favour then you can be all india topper also.

if you get 78marks from Mechanical engineering in GATE 2011 examination then your rank will be very good. although it is vary from year to year and it is not predictable.till as previous year trend it may be your all India rank in GATE examination will be around 200 or 300. your score will be more than 900 out of thousand. you will be eligible to apply for admission in M.Tech in any institution in India.

It is difficult to predict gate ranks as such

since gate scores are normalized and paper difficulty varies from year to year.

however congrats , you have scored really well and you can expect yourself

to be in top ranks ... 100-200 etc.

you will get multiple calls from IIT's

In fact you cna even get inot IISc... which is a great

college in itself.

Most top institutions will be happy to offer you admission

if you will get 78 marks then you definately get a seat in Indian Institute of Technology with better subject and your overall rank that is all India rank will be
in between 100-150.

actually it is based on the iits boards who are counductig the exams and also the persons who attended for the gate exam in mechanical stream
i hope you will get in between 50 to 100 rank all the best for u r future
