hi! dear friend, there are few sits for electrical engineering in merchant navy.the forms for it is released during month of nov.- december of every year. The eligiblity criteria for it is 60% aggregate with physical fitness.You have to give entrance test for it.

there is no any such criteria that you must be an electrical engineer,
you can join merchant navy on the basis of 12th exam
and also on the basis of the graduation,
as now you are a graduate so you will apply on the basis of the graduation.

you appear in CDS exam after your engineering
conducted by UPSC...

because in final year you have opportunity to sit in indian navy

dear,
yea you are eligible for merchant navy ......as you have done BE in electrical field.....

now all you need is to apply for CDC certificate and do some courses like fore fighting ........as these are mandatory for all ......

after you get the certificate ....apply with your resume to a shipping company and .......you will be selected after an interview......

just apply for CDC and as soon as you get it .....go for an interview in any shipping , if you qualify it you will be sent for pre boarding medical examination.......
and after that you will be able to board a ship........

You may try for this with your electrical branch.
You should have B.E./B.Tech in any of the following disciplines or equivalent with atleast 55% marks:

(a) For Engineering Branch: Mechanical/ Production/ Aeronautical/ Marine/ Control

(b) Electrical Branch: Electrical/ Electronics/ Telecommunications/ Avionics/ Instrumentation & Control.

YOu should be unmarried and be between 19.5 - 25 years of age as on 1st July, 2010. Candidates in their final semester can also apply.

Physical requirements:

You should have a minimum height of 157 cms with correlated weight, leg length, sitting height and thigh length.
Eye Sight: The minimum acceptable vision standard for distant vision is 6/24, 6/24 correctable to 6/6, 6/6. Candidate should not be colour/night blind.
Application procedure:

You can either send a handwritten/typed application form(on an A4 size paper) according to the format given in the admission notification or download the application form from the website www.nausena-bharti.nic.in.
You have to send the filled application form along with attested copies of 10th Class pass Certificate and other educational certificates as required to the following address:

Important Dates(tentative):

Last Date for receipt of Application forms:Mid November, 2009
SSB Interviews: January- June, 2010
Commencement of Training: July, 2010

Please note that the dates are only tentative and are not final. The post will be updated as soon as the dates are officially released.

Selection Procedure:

You are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in B.E./B.Tech. Shortlisted candidates are called for SSB Interviews. SSB Interview is conducted in two stages. Stage 1 includes Inteligence Test, Picture Perception test and Group discussion. Those who qualify in Stage 1 can appear for Stage 2. Stage 2 includes Psychological Tests, Group Task and Personal Interview. If you clear both the stages will have to appear in Aviation medical examination before being selected.
After that you become part of Indian Navy and are commissioned as Sub Lieutenant

You can join as an Electrical engineering because the minimum qualification for the Merchant Navy courses are that you must be an undergraduate in any of the discipline and

You must cross the age limit of 25 and must be more then 19.

Indian navy conducts examination twice in a year. You need to remain in touch with employment news for getting information
about jobs in merchant navy.

Candidates; age should not be more than 20 years , those belonging to the SC/ST have this rule relaxed by about 5 yrs.
Candidates need to show proof of completing 10+2 system or equivalent, having passed Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics as elective subjects. Some of the Qualifying Examinations are as follows: - All India Senior School Certificate Examination of CBSE - Higher Secondary Examination (from any Central/State Board of Secondary Education) - Indian School Certificate Examination of Council of Indian School of Examination .

what was the basis salary after completion of marchant navy
training

Your thinking is good.i think you can take admission in merchant navy.it had wonderful career,if you had strength.but you should have minimum 50% in main subject.(merit)
