SCRA Stands for Special Class Railway Apprentices and this examination is conducted by UPSC Comission every year and for Next year SCRA 2012 Examination Notification was already Announced and Updated in the UPSC Website, The Online Registration process was already started and eligible candidates may fill the SCRA Application form Online By paid fees in any Branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.

The Notification was already published on 22/Oct/2011 and the last date of apply for SCRA Examination 21/Nov/2011 and the examination will be held on 29/Jan/2012.

So, If you are Interested then please apply for SCRA Examination Online and Pay the fees through SBI NET Banking OR Submit the fees directly in SBI Bank. So, please apply for SCRA examination soon before the last date.

Eligiblity Criteria :

To apply for SCRA Examination you have to complete your 12Th examination OR Graduate degree course form a recognised board.

So, You have to Passed in your 12Th examination with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination (OR)

You have to completed your Graduate degree course with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as their degree subjects.

The exam criteria is the age limit 17-21 and must have 12 or graduation in corresponding recognized university.

Special Class Railway Apprentices(SCRA) Eligibility 2012:

(I) Nationality

A candidate must be either :

1. A citizen of India, or
2. A subject of Nepal, or
3. A subject of Bhutan, or
4. A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
5. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.

A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the SCRA examination 2012 but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.


(II) SCRA 2012 Age Limits :

A candidate must have attained the age of 17 years and must not have attained the age of 21 years on 1st January, 2012, i.e. he / she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1991 and not later than 1st January, 1995.

The upper age limit for SCRA Exam is relaxable as follows :
1. Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe.

2. Upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

“The closing date fixed for the receipt of the application form for SCRA 2012 will be treated as the date for determining the OBC status ( including that of creamy layer ) of the candidates.”

3. Upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

4. Upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence there of :

5. Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs / SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st January, 2012 and have been released.

1. On completion of assignment ( including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st January, 2012 ) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or
2. On account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or
3. On invalidment.

6. Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs / SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st January, 2012 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month’s notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.

7. Upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.

what is the fees of the exam& is it for those candiate who are appering in 12th exam

SCRA is Special Class Railway Apprentice recruited by Indian Railways every year.

Those who have passed 10+2 with physics and maths can apply for this exam.

The age should be between 17 to 21 years when you are applying for this examination.

You can apply for this exam though UPSC website because it is a exam conducted by UPSC ( Union Public Service Commission).

The application form is common for all the UPSC examinations.

You just you have to select the exam for which you are applying.

When you have filled all the details into the application form you will see a Bank Challan print option.

You have to take the print out of challan an submit the fee in SBI bank and get the counter foil which has a transaction ID which will be the proof that you have paid the fees.
