Courses : Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to Indian citizens in the Government as well as in private training institutions (recognized and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping):-

Officers

3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.

4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.

2 year course for Diploma Holders.

1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.

3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students

HI!
I am sorry to say that after passing `10th you are not eligible for Merchant Navy.
After passing 12th with Physics, chemistry and Math you are eligible Merchant navy.

You have to pass 12th with minimum 50% marks.

After passing 12th you have to marine engineering course.

There are various courses which after completing you will able to get jobs in Indian Merchant Navy.

These courses are :-
~Deck Rating.
~Engine Rating.
~Saloon Rating.

For doing these course the eligibility you will have to meet are :-
-->>Minimum educational qualification should be class 10 passed out with 50% Marks.
-->>Your minimum marks in English should be 50%.

After doing this courses,you will able to get jobs.

But basic Eligibility for getting jobs in Indian Navy are

Educational qualification :-
-->>Your minimum qualification should be class 10 passed out from recognized board.
-->>You should have a diploma degree in Deck/Saloon/Engine rating.

Age :-
-->>Your minimum age should be 16 years.
-->>Your age should not be above 25 years.

Physical Fitness :-
-->>Minimum Height should be 157.8 cms.
-->>Chest - Expendable should be 85 cms minimum.
-->>Weight - Not above 55 kgs.
-->>Eye Sight - 6/6 without glasses and 6/12 with glasses.
-->>No perolem of Night/Colour Blinedess.

Exam Scheme
~Logical Reasoning.
~English Grammar.
~General Knowledge.
~Basic Mathematics.

Hi dear..

Currently you can't get into Merchant Navy right away.

>You have to first complete your +2 at least with 50% marks aggregate.

> You should have Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, i.e. you have to opt for Science stream in +1 and +2.

> You can directly opt for NDA after +2 or you can go for Marine Engineering first.

After becoming a graduate, you will get a much higher post in Merchant Navy.

You can join merchant navy through NDA and the eligibility for the exam is:

*passed 12th from recognized board.

*age limit 16.5-19 yrs..

I am afraid that you will have to at least complete 12th standard for any kind of job in Merchant Navy. 10th standard qualification is certainly not enough to apply for the job in Merchant Navy.

Therefore please continue with the studies and complete 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. Please remember that only science stream candidates are eligible for the Merchant navy jobs.

You will not get job in Merchant Navy after completing 12th standard in Commerce or arts stream. After completing 12th standard you can apply for the Deck Cadet job in the Merchant Navy.

For which you should apply for the job in some company. If you are selected then the company will arrange a pre sea training of 3 months for you. After which you will have job of deck cadet in the merchant navy.

However if you want good officer level jobs that pays well then you will have to complete graduation. The two options are Marine Engineering or the B.Sc Nautical Science.

After completing any of the these two course you can get good salary jobs in the Merchant Navy.


Eligibility

1. Firstly complete 12th standard with PCM.

2. Your age should not be more than 20 years.

3. There is 5 years relaxation for SC and ST candidate.

4. Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.

5. You will have to pass a medical test.


Direct Entry

You can also get officer level job in Merchant Navy after completing B.Tech in Electrical, Mechanical or Technology. Such candidates upon selection have to go through 9 months long pre sea course in marine engineering from MERI.

I am very sorry to say you that after 10th standard you can't join merchant navy..

Merchant navy is a private job whee you have to import and export goods from other countries/to other countries..
Eligibility Criteria:-

The minimum eligibility criteria for this job is 12th standard..
And you should have to secure minimum 55% in 12th standard..
Candidates who had taken/studied maths,science subjects in their 12th academics are only applicable for this entrance exam..
Age should be minimum 17 years.

After completing 10th standard you cannot enter directly into Merchant Navy.

You need to complete at least 12th Standard for the entry into Merchant Navy.

You need to maintain a good academic percentage of 60% and possess all the physical requirements to get into navy.

Being a 10th Standard candidate your not applicable for Merchant Navy Course ....

Only the candidate who Complete 12th Standard with Physics , Mathematics and Chemistry are applicable for Merchant Navy Course ..

So, as per the eligibility criteria your not applicable for Merchant Navy Course ..

So,I suggest you to apply for 12th standard in Science Stream , After Completing your 12th Standard your definitely applicable for Merchant Navy Course ..

You should Note that Commerce and Arts Stream candidates are not applicable for Merchant Navy Course ..
