How to do graduation in Actuarial Science and what are the career prospect of this subject?
Im currently in FYJC (science) with physics, chemistry, maths and computer science as my subjects.
Im interested in doing my Actuarial Science. But I want to know if i should do BSc in Actuarial Science or BSc with Actuarial Science as a subject or is it more advisable to do BScIT and appear for the Actuarial Science papers alongside? How long does it generally take to clear all the papers? Is this career option financially more rewarding than a degree in engineering followed by MBA? Which are the institutes in Mumbai offering Actuarial Science? And please give me information regarding the Entrance Exam and how to apply for it? |

Re: How to do graduation in Actuarial Science and what are the career prospect of this subject?
As to pursue a graduation in Actuarial Science candidates need to have a 10+2 pass certificate. This is the basic eligibility for joining this course. The +2 certification must be from any of the renowned education board in India. Candidates who have completed graduation in Actuarial Science have huge job prospects. They are eligible even to start their own consultancy firm if wanted. Even MNC companies recruit candidates from this field of study. Some of the best institutions from which candidates can carry out this course are Actuarial Institute of India, Institute of Certified Risk and Insurance Managers, University of Delhi etc.

Hi Guest,
It is one of the rarest courses in India and the demand for the course is also good. If you maintain a good percentage of above 65% throughout the academics then there are good chances of getting job for sure. Thank you, All the best. |

Re: How to do graduation in Actuarial Science and what are the career prospect of this subject?
Actuarial science and CA are different fields and we need both of them to be successful as a company coz CA does accounting thing and Actuary does valuation thing for company both are good in there way, its upto your interest what to do and what not....salary wise u can earn a way ahead in actuarial science with increasing experience. I know few actuaries who earn more than 5000000 per year as an actuary.
yea one more thing I know few CA's also who now want to be actuary also...so i guess its a step ahead |

Re: How to do graduation in Actuarial Science and what are the career prospect of this subject?
U need to appear for ACET to become a member of Institute of Actuaries of India, only after that u can appear fro actuarial exams.
there is another way to get into field you can directly appear fro the subject CT1 which is financial mathematics from IOA which is actuarial institute of UK as a non-member and can became member over there after passing that exam and once u r member over there you can take membership in IAI also. |
