Here is the algorithmic approach to get a job in Public Sector Undertakings like IOCL, BHEL, SAIL etc through GATE exam.

GATE is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. It is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology and is a online test for selection of candidates to master's degree in technology.

Recently GATE has become one of the criteria for getting jobs in Public Sector Undertakings.

Step 1: First you must have completed bachelor's degree in engineering or final year of engineering.

Step 2: You need to apply for the GATE entrance exam conducted every year.

Step 3: You must have a good GATE scorecard and your rank must be in top 500 in order to become eligible for short listing by PSUs.

Step 4: Before GATE exams, the notifications for the different PSUs are out, you need to apply for it by paying application fees.

Some PSUs like SAIL, NPCIL, AAI also conducts its own entrance exam.

Step 5: If your GATE rank is as per required by PSUs, they will call you for group discussion and personal interview.

Depending upon your performance in group discussion and personal interview, you will get a job in PSUs.

This depends fully on your branch and seats available in these PSU's. In general i can tell you that you require at least 70 marks in GATE exam if you are a general category student to get into any of these PSU.

This is about 99 percentile or even more than that so prepare hard for it.

To get jobs in PSU on the GATE you have to go through the follow some steps . GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering . The eligibility criteria to put application for it is - Candidate must be graduate in any discipline of Engineering .

The candidates who scores good score in GATE which make there rank to below 500 are applicable for the called for PSU .Then candidates have to go through the GD round and Personal Interview . The candidates who perform well in this are given the jobs in PSU i.e -SAIL , NTPC etc .

If you wanted to become a government civil engineer get a good job in PSUs sector then you will have to get a very good rank rank Or will have to get a rank under 500 in GATE to get a job in governmenta sector because all the PSUs to recruit candidates through GATE scores.

Each of the PSU Recruitment will be done through GATE 2015 and notification for all the PSUs will be provided online.

Initially they would shortlist candidates based on GATE scores and then the process is followed by GD and Interview for assessment of different facets of knowledge.
