Assistant Loco Pilot Examination pattern

What is the Exam Pattern of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP)?

Exam Pattern of ALP :

Two types of written test and document verification are held for final selection of Assistant Loco Pilot:

1. Written test

2. Aptitude test

3. Document verification

1. Written test

Written test is organized by the Railways Board. In this Test there are objective questions / multiple choice questions. Number of total questions is 120. In Written Test Questions are asked from General Knowledge (G.K.), General Arithmetic, Analytical quantative skills / General English / General Hindi /
Total Time given for the test is only 90 minutes.
Medium of examination is Hindi or English or Urdu.

Have any negative marking in the test?

This exam also has the negative marking. For any three wrong answer a full marks of a question will be deduced i.e. 1/3rd Negative marking.

Aptitude Test
After getting success in written examination candidate will have to appear in Aptitude Test.
Document Verification
The last stage of the exam is document verification. After succeeding in aforesaid tests candidates will have to pass through document verification. This is not a type of test but only certificates which the candidates have are checked whether it is correct or not?

It may not possible to get all the study material and topics in a single book. Candidates have to collect material from various sources based on the ITI and Polytechnic topics. For Non Technical topics, you can easily get material for Arithmetic, Reasoning, General Awareness and GK subjects. For Arithmetic and Reasoning, Mathematics books of 10th class standard will be immensely useful. Following are important Topics for various Technical Trades:

1) Mechanical: Measurements, Heat, Engine, Thermo Dynamics, Energy Material, Energy Conservation, Management, Applied Mechanics, Turbo Machines, Production Engineering, Automation Engineering, Theory of Motion, Strength of Material, Metallurgy, Metal Handling, Refrigerator and Air Condition, Heat Transformation etc.

2) Automobile: Machine Design, Theory of Machine, IC Engine, Heat Transfer, Thermo Dynamics, Applying Motion of Materials, Power Plant Turbine and Boilers, Production Technology and Metallurgy etc.

3) Electrical: Indian Electrical Rolls, Cables, Transfers, Electrical Fundamental Proven System, Alternative Single Phase Motor System, Three Phase motor System, Illumination, Magnetism, Directed Motors etc.

4) Electronics and Communication: Transistor, Dias, Digital Electronics, Electronic Tube Networking and Industrial Electronics, Semi Conductor Physics, Robotic Radio Communication system and Satellite Matters, Computer and Micro Processor etc.

5) General English: About 10 questions will be asked from this section. Questions will be from the topics of basic grammar such as articles, prepositions, voices, tenses, synonyms, antonyms etc.

6) Reasoning: Topics such as coding , decoding, blood relations, arrangements, calender - dates, weeks, classification, analogy, verbal and non- verbal questions are important. In the Arithmetic Section, candidates should prepare topics such as time and distance, ratios, averages, interest methods, pictogram based problems etc
