The Mahatma Gandhi University, Meghalaya has been approved by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

The university has also been recognized by the Distance Education Council (DEC) and University Grants Commission (UGC).

And it is also a member of an Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
