I am 12th passed with PCM . I wanna join merchant navy . Please help me out.

Merchant navy is a fleet of ships which handles commercial trade and not involved in war situations. YOu can join after your 12th........

after 12th you can join as deck cadets. if you want to enter the navigational and engineering fields of Merchant Navy then you need to complete B.Sc. degree in mechanical or marine engineering, before gaining admission to the field.

after 12th you will have to appear for a exam conducted by IGNOU.......there there rae two criteria for appearing.........

you can appear as a sponsored or a non-sponsored candidate.....

if you want to be a sponsored candidate then you will have to apply for a particular company of your choice and then appear fro a online exam and an interview......it is generally very easy....

you can join the merchant navy after completing your 12th with PCM.............there are many ways of get in into this............

1)just apply for various companies when the forms are out in the month of april.......
2)you can apply for it even after you complete your graduation or you can say after completing your engineering............

but you must have scored more than 60% in PCM in 12th board...............

now the chance for applying for any company is gone...........still there are some companies which provide admission at the month of july on the basis of your marks scored in IIT JEE 2010..................

Yes sure you can apply for the merchant navy because it requires inly the pcm subjects............

now you are eligible to give exam of merchant navy. Its forms will be out in march or april and costs only 5 rupees but the jobs it is providing are excellent.

after 10+2 u have to contact any merchant navy office which provides training
then u have to pass a written exam after which u will be interviewed.....then there will a medical checkup....
then there will be a course for 6 months off- board training and then a 6 months on- board training.......

You can join the merchant navy either after completion of 12th standard or after Marine engineering. There are various entrance exams like IGNOU, IIT - JEE etc. which you need to appear for.Then there will be a one year training. After completing your sea time for the next post as the 2nd mate also there are exams which you need to clear. For each post there will be exams which you need to clear to become a Captain. However the marks you have scored in both 12th and graduation is less. You need to have at least a 50%. So you will need to look for other career options.

ELIGIBILITY:-

AGE LIMIT :-Both unmarried male and female candidates age
should not be more than 20 years (on 1st September of the entry year): those belonging to the SC/ST have this rule relaxed by about 5 yrs.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:- Candidates should be passed with Chemistry,
Mathematics and Physics as elective subjects.

1-b.sc,
2-b.tech,
3- computer hardware course for one year.
4-mass communication.
5-animation course

Educational qualification:
The minimum eligibility for courses in Nautical science and Marine engineering is 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics. He should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.

HOW TO JOIN MERCHANT NAVY


Courses : Career in Merchant Navy can be pursued either as an officer or a rating in mainly two specialized fields, i.e. Marine Engineering and Nautical (deck). To become a seafarer, following streams of entries (Pre-Sea courses) are available to Indian citizens in the Government as well as in private training institutions (recognized and approved by Director General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping):-

Officers
3 year degree course in Nautical Science for (10+2) students.
4 year degree course in Marine Engineering for (10+2) students.
2 year course for Diploma Holders.
1 year course for Graduate Mechanical Engineers.
3 month course for Deck Cadets for (10+2) students.

Rating (Entry standard Xth)
4 month Pre-Sea Course for General Purpose (GP) rating.
3 month Pre-Sea Course for Deck rating.
3 month Pre-Sea Course for Engine rating.
4 month Pre-Sea Course for Saloon rating.
In addition, a candidate can join as utility hand or Petty Officers (Fitters) after completing 4 Basic Courses, i.e. FPFF, EFA, PSSR and PST.


Govt training Institutes : There are four Government Training Institutes providing Pre-Sea and Post-Sea training of international standard :
