Re: Is Msc IT from PTU valuable?
Dear Indrajit,
If you want to know M.Sc in Information Technology is a valuable course or not, then I can say yes, it is much valuable, career oriented.... Any course has its own value and merits. Likewise, any Institute, college becomes famous for its reputation. Doing B.E. at IIT/Anna University has its own value than doing in any college. It depends not only on the Course but also where you do it? PTU is approved by AICTE and recognized by UGC. Then why are u hesitating? Regards |

Re: Is Msc IT from PTU valuable?
PTU is a good institute, courses offered there have got nice name. But why do you want to do Msc, you can try MBA too, which can give you much more wider career options. So have a thought and decide..

Re: Is Msc IT from PTU valuable?
Hey friend doing MSc IT from PTU distance education is of no worth. From time to time government reminds that these programs are not runned according to UGC recognition. PTU runs its study centre outside punjab so its illegal. Better not to go for it.
Best of Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Re: Is Msc IT from PTU valuable?
Friends, I have related question to this one.
I am planning to do B.Sc. (IT) from Punjab Technical University Jallandhar (Through its learning centres). I failed in physics in 10 2 and not able to get admission in B.Tech (although i got good ranking in competitive entrace exam). Since there is no bar of subjects in 10 2 for B.Sc. (IT) of PTU, Will it be a right decision for me to join this course?? What you people suggest? An early reply to this will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advnce. |

PTU is recognized by UGC. But PTU does not have the fund from the UGC/Central Govt. PTU is one of the State University of Punjab, established by the Punjab Govt. under the state legislative Act of the State. So, PTU achieves the state funds from the Punjab Govt to run the University. All the Distace courses of PTU are recognized by UGC/DEC. But the learning centres of PTU across the Country under distance mode are not necessarily be approved by the AICTE. Because the AICTE does not give the approval to the learning centres which run outside the state under the Distance mode of any university. AICTE approves only the technical courses offered by the University like MBA,MCA etc. in distance mode. So the Engineering Colleges Punjab state affiliated to PTU are all approved by AICTE. All the courses offered by PTU outside the state of Punjab or within the state in distance mode are approved by the Joint Committee of UGC-DEC-AICTE for the 3 academic years 2009-10, 10-11,2011-12 and further it will be extended in near future. I did MSc-IT/LE(Lateral Entry) from Punjab Technical University in Distance mode and also appeared UGC NET examination. While applying NET examination I did not face any problem from UGC regarding the courses and the PTU university. |
