Tiger is the National Animal of India


Tiger is scientifically known as Panthera tigris. It is a member of the Felidae family and the largest of the four ‘big cats’ of the Panthera genus. Tiger is about 13 feet in length and 150 kilograms in weight.

Tiger was chosen as the National animal of India due to its grace, strength, agility and enormous power.Tiger is also called the lord of Jungles.

The government of India launched the Project Tiger in 1973 to protect the royal animal.

Am giving some of information about the Bengal Tigers:

**An Average male bengal tigers weight around 420 Pounds.

**The Bengal tiger has a body lengh of 6 feet an tail length of 3 feet and therefore has a total length of 9 feet long.

**Female Bengal tiger is only 310 pounds and 8 feet.

**A tigers coat can actually take on a variety of colours. The standard colours of a Bengal tiger are an orange body with black stripes coming down the sides.
