Indian Engineering Service exam is conducted by upsc every year once.This exam is conducted to intake qualified engineers for Government sector in different departments.
Eligibility criteria for Indian Engineering Service exam: Education qualification: Candidate should have minimum graduation degree in Engineering from any one of below mentioned stream >>Mechanical Engineering >>Civil Engineering >>Electrical Engineering >>Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Age limit: Age should be between 21 to 30 years. Indian Engineering Service exam notification for this year: Issue of application form from 25th Feb 2012 to 24th March 2012. Exam will held on 15th June 2012. IES : Indian Engineering Services
This is the one of the prestigious civil service. For this civil service a separate entrance exam will be conducted. Only Civil,Mechanical,Electrical,Electronics and Communication branch students can take most of this exam. Other branch students can also apply but they have to apply for any of the above mentioned Engineering branches. Civil Engineering group applicants will get into Group A service posts like Indian railway service engineers Indian defence service of engineers. Assistant executive engineer and many more. To write this exam first you have to follow the notification this notification will be released in the month of february. after that they have to apply online or offline if online, Log onto www.upsconline.nic.in Before the last date you have to apply for the exam and get registered for the same. there will be a written examination and then after clearing this written exam you will be called for Personal Interview. then after getting selected there you will be undergoing certificate verification. then you will get posting. for your information just check this previous notification it will help you in better understanding about the exam. IES is the Indian engineering service exam conducted for recruiting engineers to various posts.The exam is conducted under four core fields 1,Civil 2.Mechanical 3.Electronics and telecommunication 4.Electrical The written exam includes two sessions Session 1 general aptitude, Session2 it includes two civil engineering conventional papers the syllabus are PAPER 1 building materials solid mechanics structural analysis design of steel structures design of concrete structures. construction practice and management PAPER 2 fluid mechanics,open channel flow,pipe flow hydraulic machines hydrology water resource engineering environmental engineering waste water engineering water supply engineering solid waste management soil mechanics foundation engineering surveying transport engineering you can choose any standard books and prepare according to syllabus |

ABOUT IES
IES is an examination conducted by the UPSC board for the recruitment of engineers into the various departments that are run by the central government. The various department includes 1) Indian railway service. 2) Indian defence service. These are common for all the trades. the ones which are exclusive for the civil branch students are 1) Central PWD 2) Delhi Metro rail Corporation. 3) PWD. 4) Housing development Board. IES EXAM IES exams are usually conducted for a total of 1200 marks out of which 1000 marks are for the test and the remaining 200 marks are for the interviews. for the written exam, there would be 3 parts. 1) General aptitude 2) Civil engineering paper 1 3) civil engineering paper 2 one third mark would be deducted for each wrong answer. while prepairing the civil topics give preference to 1) Geotechical engineering 2) Building materials. 3) Structural engg.
