10+2 or equivalent should be cleared by the candidates , with at least 70% marks in the aggregate in the subjects of physics , chemistry , maths from a recognized university
SC,ST & PD candidates , a relaxation of 10% marks in the qualifying exam

Exam pattern:

Exam consists of multiple choice type questions
Duration : 2 hrs

Percenatge required in 12th for general category student is 70%
For obc is also 70%
For sc/st is 60%

You can apply for IIST by giving an entrance examination based on PCM.
Age: must be below 25years.
Qualification:Must have completed +2 with PCM and obtained a minimum of 70% for general and 60% for SC and SC candidates.

Candidates satisfying the following criteria can apply for ISAT 2012:

Citizenship: Indian

Date of birth: Should be on or after 01st October, 1987 in the case of
general/OBC candidates. Should be on or after 01st October, 1982 in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates

Qualifying examination (QE): Must have passed the 10+2 or equivalent examination in the first appearance with an aggregate of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (60% in the case of SC/ST/PD candidates), in the calendar year 2011 or 2012

Candidates who passed the QE earlier than 1st January, 2011 are not eligible to apply. Those who are expecting the results later than 01st July, 2012 are not eligible to apply

The candidate must produce the proof of age at the time of counseling

Examination fee is payable in any one of the branches of State Bank of India (SBI) or Punjab National Bank (PNB) only, by using the challan in triplicate which is downloadable/printable on successful completion of online registration through the above website.
