I'm trying for a job in Railway Police Force (RPF) but I have a tattoo on my right arm. Can I get job in RPF? Whether I will be qualified or not? Will I face any problem having a tattoo?

According by Indian defense rules, the candidates are strictly banned recruitment as soldiers into the defense forces for candidates having permanent tattoos on their body.


In anywhere of body tattoos are not allowed except arms only is allowed. The Indian armed forces says for the reason for banning, tattoos are health hazard.


It will be the route for skin diseases. So if you want to join defense side you can't have tattoos.

As per the recent eligibility criteria to apply for RPF Constable and Sub - Inspector posts, there is no such restrictions about having tattoo. So, a person having tattoo on right arm is eligible for RPF job.

Eligibility Criteria to become RPF:

>> The minimum qualification required to become RPF is class 10+2 pass in any stream.
>> For Constable: To apply for RPF constable vacancies aspirants’ age should not be less than 18 years and not be more than 25 years.
For Sub Inspector: Minimum age of applicant to apply for RPF Sub Inspector Recruitment should be 20 years and the maximum age should be 25 years.
Upper age limit relaxation for OBC, SC, ST candidates are as per government norms.

RPF (Railway Protection Force) conducts entrance exam for recruiting candidates into the railway department.

The eligibility requirements are as follows:

- The candidate should be a citizen of India.
- The basic educational qualification required is a bachelors or graduation level degree from any recognised university.
- The qualification may vary based on the post.
- The basic age limit should be between 18 - 25 years.
- The age limit may vary based on the post.
- There is age relaxation given for reserved candidates based on government rules.
- The height required is 165 Cms for male, 157 Cms for female and the weight should be proportional to height.
- There is 5 Cms relaxation given for SC/ ST candidates.

According to the Indian Railways tattoo’s are allowed but for few posts only and it is acceptable if it is a small sized tattoo in any place which will be not visible to others.
The chances of getting a job in RPF will depend upon the post and size of your tattoo.
