I think last years paper would not help you because the the exam pattern has changed for IAS. and from 2011 the UPSC exam will be called as CSAT exam that is civil service aptitude test. and this test would be different from the previous UPSC exam. In the CSAT exam you have to give two paper. Paper-1 will consist question of General knowledge, General studies and current affairs etc. and paper-2 will consist quantitative aptitude and english comprehension. Therefore prepare for the GK from magazine like CSR, Master in current affairs and pratiyogita darpan.

For the previous question paper you can visit UPSC's website i.e. www.upsc.gov.in, where you will find the previous years question. Since the pattern of examinations has changed only question related to GS will be helpful for the preliminary exams and for the aptitude test sample paper has been provided in the commissions website. So you can go through those questions for better understanding the pattern of the exam.

questions in IAS are never repeated. but you should download Previous year IAS question papers of GS because in new pattern also it is present. downlad GS paper of IAS of year 2009, 2010 from http://www.upsc.gov.in/

then you'll get a page ..

on the left side of the page you'll have the downloads button

press on it you'll get a hyper link page

there you'll get an option to download previous IAS question papers..

click on them

and follow the instructions till the file get saved on to your disk..
