my 10th marksheet name is more long than space available so i not write my complete name in gate registration form, so tell me what i do???

thier is no problem.while ur name is too lengthy than u can short it.otherwise ur surname is lengthy than ushort itand write ur fullname

Ya these kinds of problem are always occurs while filling forms, so there is an option from which you can write your full name in the GATE form. You don't leave space between the first name, second name and the last name,okay and write a letter which you have submit with the application form.
In the additional letter you have to write your full name in proper manner.ok.
You can also checkout the rules and regulation for filling the GATE application form.

ok you dont worry this is not a big problem if your 10th marksheet name is bigger then the space available.in this case you can use short form for the name like,delhi public school can also be written as

You can try for on line form fill up in GATE as this year IITM makes it really simple and efficient to fill up form through on line and you can also enter your name very easily as there is no size bound.

Dear gaurav,

you did not mentioned whether you filled the form online or offline? I think it is offline form fillup.
dont worry about that provide your first name and shortend your middle name after that complete your surname.

must mention your firstname and last name completely.

you may write first &last name OR can also write name outside the column if 1 or 2 letters are left

in that case contact with any GATE zonal office by phone. they will provide you the right information. do not do anything without true knowledge. otherwise your form may be canceled. call to any zonal office and fill up the form correctly.

you have not told which GATE zonal office you are belongs to.

so it will be better to go near GATE zonal office to make a conformation.

Gaurav Patel,

It is not all a big issue to worry.. The rule that "the name as on Xth certificate"
is employed so as to avoid mistakes in finding the 'actual name' of the person..

So, Shorten you name by replacing surname(s) to its initials. And enter it
with all the remaining details clearly..

Don't worry.. you will not have any problems in the future regarding the difference in name.

But keep attention that the same shortened name is used elsewhere... It will the be considered as your name on certificate/bank acc/etc.,.

i was bought application from SBI. bank manager fills chellan is candidate name wrong... that is anything fault..

Well Gaurav, I guess you have not refer the prospectus of GATE 2011.Its written that if your name is longer than the space provided then you can use the short form of your name .

I think you can skip your middle name..or write you surname clearly with initials of your 1st name...

yes this type of problem is occuring .

so in this case write your full first and last name and write shortcut name of the middle of

your names.

llike if your name is ajit prasad sing then you can write it as ajit pd singh

It is not a great mistake to consider and worry.
It do happen.
And the applications wouldn't get rejected for these type reasons.
