Relaxations for OBC in JEE Main 2017
My percentage in 12th board was 67.4 and i am preparing now for Jee main 2017 but according to new announcement 75% is must to take admission in any NIT, so should I go for improvement exam or there is some relaxation for obc category in percentage and I also read some where that 70% for general category and 65% for Sc/St is necessary for admission in any NIT. So what's for obc candidate how much is relaxation?

Re: Relaxations for OBC in JEE Main 2017
There is no relaxation for OBC candidates to be eligible to appear in JEE Main 2017 examination. Candidates who have passed 12th standard or an equivalent examination with PCM stream from a Government recognised board are eligible to appear in JEE Main examination.
To be eligible to get admission in IIT through JEE Advanced 2017 examination, you should have secured 75% (70% for SC/ ST/ PWD) aggregate marks in your 12th standard or you must be in top 20 percentile high scorers of your 12th standard board examinations. So, you are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2017 examination and you are not eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2017 examination. |

Re: Relaxations for OBC in JEE Main 2017
No, you are not required to score 75% marks in 12th standard to appear in JEE mains exam. You will need to score 75% marks in 12th standard to appear in JEE advance exam(but you must have passed JEE mains first).
To appear in JEE mains exam, you will need to score at least 50% marks in 12th standard with PCM as the three main subjects. Relaxation of 10% in 12th marks is given to SC/St candidates. So my suggestion to you is that you should apply for improvement exams. Try to score as much as you can in improvement exams. You can take help from the previous papers to prepare in a better way. |

Re: Relaxations for OBC in JEE Main 2017
I got 52% marks in PCM and belong to OBC category of Delhi central list. I appeared in JEE 2017 and could not get a better rank. If I drop for one year and take JEE exam in 2018. DTU gives admission to OBC candidates having 55% marks, NSIT gives admission to 50% marks. Does the percentage of mark very from Institute to Institute. Should I go for improvement exam. Please guide
