What is difference between M.Sc Computer Science and MCA?


Which is better between M.Sc Computer Science and MCA? What is the main difference between these two? What is the standard course structure of these two followed by most of the universities? I have done BCA.

Although both courses M.Sc (Computer Science) and MCA are similar, but they have specific difference which is important to understand for students before taking admission. You should choose the course in which you have more interest and according to your career goals.

M.Sc (Computer Science) VS MCA
- M.Sc (Computer Science) is 2 year duration post graduate course whereas MCA is the 3 year duration post graduate course.
- M.Sc (Computer Science) can be pursued by one who have completed graduation in computer science or computer technology. MCA can be pursued by one who have completed no completed graduation in science or commerce or arts or engineering.
- M.Sc computer science focuses on computer hardware as well as software. MCA mainly focuses on software and it's applications.
- After M.Sc (Computer Science), You will have employment opportunities in teaching, software development, testing and networking etc. After MCA, you can make a career as software developer, software engineer, software analyst, software consultant etc.
