Hello friend,
In Merchant Navy, like any other industry, there are various departments and posts but among all, the Engineering and the Navigation departments are most important and most of the recruitment are done in them.
To join the engineering department of merchant navy, you must hold a bachelors degree in engineering. candidates holding a degree in marine engineering are preferred for the post of engineer/junior engineer.
For navigation department, you will have to study nautical science after +2 and to pursue course in nautical science, you must have studied physics, chemistry and maths in the +2 level.

After qualifying +2 level of exam, you may also join directly as Deck Cadet but again, you must have studied PCM in the same.

Apart from these two major departments, you may also join merchant navy as pursuer which in general could be referred as clerk on board. But to be eligible for this post, you must have qualified BCom and must be computer literate.

my name is surya now im studying bsc nautical science second year in AMET UNIVERSITY CHENNAI603112.In my colege some of thestudents are getting placement in the companys but i am not yet. can i apply for merchant navy navigation department now??if so is it is possible to apply through online ???if it is possible means .please say me the procedure..
