Deemed University is a status of autonomy high performing institutes and departments of various universities in India.

The status of "Deemed to be university"" is granted by the department of higher education,Union Human Resource development ministry on the advice of University of Grants commission of India under the section 3 of UGC act 1956.

Deemed university has full freedom for setting its own guidelines for the admission, fees, and instructions as well as examination conducting ways

They are well known and recognized for imparting good quality education.After June 2008,there UGC has list of 130 deemed universities.
