Fresh engineering graduates have adequate career opportunities at present times. You can join as GET in firms like BHEL, BEL or IOCL. One needs to score well in GATE to have such a job opportunity. Also you can look for Asst Engineer position in state departments like PWD and Pollution control Board. MNC also recruit civil engineers for technical job profiles.
