there are no hard and fast rule a science or art student can only beome the ias officer.u have thing about.ur interest in which field.and complete the graduation for eligibilty criteria and having age less than 30 for genrral candidate

WHAT TO STUDY AFTER 12TH TO BECOME IAS OFFICER

You can take up any Bachelor's degree which you are interested in let it be Engineering course like B.Tech or Arts course like BCA etc... because the educational qualification required to attend IAS qualification exam is to have a degree from recognized university....

-> The best way to prepare for IAS exam, is to start from the day you join into the college with some course...

-> I have attached the exam pattern, tentative syllabus and previous year papers in this post for your reference.. just check it over to have an idea about IAS exam...

-> The important thing which you must have for IAS preparation is Hard Work... just spend valuable time daily for IAS exam preparation then for sure you will become IAS one day...

Bachelor’s degree of a recognised university with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physcs, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Enginerring or an equivalent qualification

Eligibility Criteria:-

To be eligible for Indian Administrative Services (IAS) examination, you are required to complete you graduation degree in any stream from a recognised University, accredited by Government of India.

IAS examination is conducted by Union Publice Service Commision (UPSC). The minimum educational qualification required to be eligible for the exam is bachelor degree in any stream. Furthure more the candidate must be in between the age limit of 21 to 30 years on the date of selection interview. Both male and female candidates are eligible to appear for the examination. There are certain relaxations provided to the SC/ST candidates.

Dear Friend,

To apply for the IAS officer you have to apply for the Civil Service examination.

You can take any subject of your interest in the Graduation course as a graduate in any stream is eligible to appear for the IAS examination.

So choose the one subject you like the most and do the best.

What to study to become IAS

According to the UPSC Guidelines..the following candidates can appear for the Civil Service Exam :-

1) The candidate must be a graduate from any stream from a recognized college in India

2) The candidate must be within the age-limit of 21-30 years for General,21-33 years for OBC and 21-35 years for SC/ST

The maximum number of attempts for General is 4,for OBC its 7 and for SC/ST there is no limit..

There are two rounds

1) Prelims :- This round will test your aptitude,general knowledge and current affairs

2) Mains :- If you clear the Prelims then you shall qualify for the Mains which will test your knowledge of your graduation subjects..

After clearing both these rounds you shall be called up for the interview and the final selection..

You want to become an IAS officer , then after completion of 12th you can go for graduation course in any trade..

After completion of graduation in any trade you can appear in IAS exam..

But your age should be in between 21-30 years.
For SC/ST the upper age relaxation is 5 years and for OBC the upper age relaxation is 3 years.

So, go for graduation course first... And try to complete your graduation course with a good aggregate..
Then you will not have any problem...
