When alternating current is given to Direct connect motors following things can happen:
1. DC motor can run if there is series connection of field and armature winding. 2. However in case of parallel connection, motor will not rotate, there will be vibrations in motor. Heating up of motor will take place which may even damage motor winding. This happens as torque developed by motor is zero because of fact that positive and negative torque cancel out each other. |
