You should be either a B.Tech/B.E /B.Arch graduate from a recognized university or institute to apply for the GATE exam. The final year engineering graduates are also eligible to apply for this exam. Those who have completed or are in the final year of post graduation in the same subject area are also eligible to attend this exam. Those who are doing a four year Integrated Masters Degree program are also eligible to apply for the GATE exam. There is no specification with regard to the age limit for the GATE exam.

In order to be considered eligible for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, conducted jointly by the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science, one must hold a bachelors degree in any of the following discipline:

• Engineering
• Technology
• Architecture

As far age limit is concerned, there is no age limit to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

GATE Stands Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and this examination is conducted by the Indian Institute of Sciences and Seven Indian Institute of Technology Once in year and this year exam was already completed.

Eligibility Criteria :-

The candidate who are completed their graduate degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.

The candidate who are completed their graduate degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (Post-B.Sc/Post-Diploma) from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.

The candidate who are complete their Master degree in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science from a recognized University or equivalent qualification.

The Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology.

The Candidates in the fourth or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme or Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

Those in the final year of degree course may also eligible to apply for GATE examination but pre-final year of graduate degree are not eligible to apply for this examination.

There is no specific age limits for this examination and there is no minimum number of attempts for this examination the candidate attempt any number of times of GATE examination.

The eligibility criteria about the qualification for GATE exam is as under-

1. Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

2. Master's degree holders in any branch of Science/Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.

3. Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master's degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master's degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/Technology.

4. Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognized by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.


As far age limit is concerned, there is no age limit to apply for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering.

Gate score is valid for Two years.

The qualification required for giving the gate exam is 55% marks in your engineering and if you belong to b.sc the 60% marks in graduation. the gate exam is conducted by the IITs jointly and there is no upper limit in giving the exam. there is no restrictions on the number of attempts and age in giving the gate exam.

What is the Nationality criteria for gate exam? Anybody who come from others country can sit for gate exam?

GATE - Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is an entrance exam conducted by IIT and Indian Institute of Science for admission to M.Tech. courses in IITs, NITs etc.

There is no upper age restriction for application to GATE.

The eligible candidate must be an Indian National having either appear for the final B.Tech. Engineering Degree exam or pass in any stream from a recognised University, can apply for GATE.

As per the notification in the GATE examination there is no age limit for the examination.

So the candidates who have completed the B.Tech course in few of the course mentioned in the notification can apply for the examination.

There is no age limit for applying for the GATE examination. Any age of the candidate applying for this exam.

GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. The candidates will be given admission for M.tech. This exam exam will be conducted once in a year.

To apply for this exam first you satisfy the below eligibility criteria

One should have completed graduation on Engineering with any stream.

Candidate who are pursuing final year of Graduation course in Engineering can also apply for this exam.

Candidate who are pursuing pre final year of Engineering course are not eligible to apply for this exam.

There is no age criteria to appear for this exam. One can apply for this exam at any age if he fulfill the required academic criteria.

There is no limit on the number of attempts for GATE exam.
