To become a commissioner of police you need to crack the Union Public Service Commission - civil service examination.
UPSC is the central agency of India that conducts the Civil Service Examination for qualifying a deputy commissioner of police or IPS officer.
UPSC is the all India service examination.

After completion of 12th standard you have to complete your degree in any discipline of your choice from a recognised Institute aur University and then you have to take this examination.

To become an officer, the required minimum educational qualification is that candidate must have passed bachelor degree from a recognised university.

So, you are not eligible to appear for the examination now and eligible to appear for the examination only after the graduation.

You can prepare for the examination during these years while preparation.

Those who have completed their 12/UG/PG are all eligible for the post.

Commissioner of Police is a post that can be held by IPS officer of the rank SP and above depending upon the sanction provided by the respective State Government.

The aspiring candidate has to complete CSAT exam and choose IPS.Then after 2 year training period you 'll be posted to respective State.
After passing out you will be joining in the rank of Deputy Supridentant of Police or Assistant commissioner of Police. Then you have to go through 7 positions to reach the ultimate position.
They are mainly IPS officers who get higher executive powers than those available to SP .
