Am I eligible to study PhD in IT being an M.Sc(IT) postgraduate?
Hi,
My major in B.Sc is Mathematics. I have also completed my M.Sc(IT) in University of Madras. Now I am interested in taking up PhD programs in IT. Am I eligible for it? My areas of interests are Software Engineering and Testing. |

Yes, you are certainly eligible to pursue Ph.D in Information Technology after successful completion of Master of Science in Information Technology. The basic educational qualification required to pursue this Ph.D in IT course is given below. >> Candidates must have completed Master's Degree or its equivalent qualification in concerned field i.e., in Information Technology for you from a recognized university. >> The minimum percentage to be secured in Post Graduation is 60% marks. >> Besides this criteria, you are required to appear in UGC NET/ GATE or that particular college's entrance examination in order to get seat. |

You can apply for admission in Ph.D in IT surely without any doubt if you have got 55% marks in your M.Sc IT degree. There is relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidate.
Admission will be based on the performance in the written exam and interview conducted by the concerned university. It would be better to qualify NET/SET/JRF which will give you exemption from entrance exam. |
