Is it beneficial to do PhD(Sociology) for MA postgraduate?


Hi everyone, I want to do PhD(Sociology) course. As I have done MA in same specialization, so I think that this is a beneficial course for me. Am I right in this case? Should I do this course? Please suggest me. Waiting for your response!

Yes, selecting the same specialization in PhD will make a good understanding of the subject and consequently, you will get job opportunity after PhD

If you did PhD in Sociology, it will make a good understanding of the Sociology subject. Even you have opportunity become sociology teacher or professor after PhD.

Apart from this PhD. will develop research skill, and at the same time, you become an expert in the concerned field. Therefore, it is easy for you to identify in which field you have knowledge.

PhD in Sociology Eligibility Criteria:
  • The candidate must complete a Master degree in Sociology with at least 55% from a recognized university. Those who belong to reserved category will get 5% relaxation.
  • The candidate must have to qualified in the UGC NET entrance examination.

You need to decide based on your career goal. If you think that, the Ph.D will help you grow professionally, then you should pursue it, but make sure you complete it from a reputed place.

Normally, Ph.D is a good option for those, who are already in academics field or doing some research work. Also, if you are a fresher, you should aim at getting admission at top university, because without good research exposure, your Ph.D will not have much value.

** As per my knowledge, yes it is beneficial to do Ph.D. (Sociology) for MA postgraduate.
