You have completed M.Sc in Mathematics so you are eligible for CSIR NET exam. Mathematics candidates are not eligible for UGC NET exam because UGC NET exam is not conducted for Mathematics subject.

Those candidates who have completed masters degree from a recognized university are eligible for CSIR NET exam. General and OBC candidates should hold 55% and above marks in masters degree. For SC/ST candidate its 50% and above in masters degree.

Your age should be below 28 years.

- UGC NET is the test conducted by UGC, if one clear the National Eligibility Test can pursue a career in Public Sector undertakings in the disciplines like management, human resources, finance, corporate communication etc.

- CSIR NET is the test for taking candidates for the Research Programs in various centers. The post graduate can appear for the examinations conducted by CSIR. It is the national level examination for post graduates of Science and Engineering to get the admission in PhD.

Being a M.Sc student you have to appear in CSIR NET.
