Doctor of Philosophy in agriculture can be done after completing Masters in Science in Botany as well. However, you would need to give the National Eligibility test which means NET to be eligible to pursue doctorate. Once done, you will be eligible to teach you most of the reputed universities.

If you want to do a Ph.D. from a top university then qualifying examinations like UGC NET or CSIR NET or GATE or different universities' admission test is necessary as these examinations help in selecting deserving candidates.

Further, qualifying above examination becomes helpful in getting a government or institute fellowship while pursuing Ph.D.

Yes, If a student wants to go for further studies after completing MSc degree in Botany, then they can pursue a PhD degree or M. Phil degree. A PhD degree is more valued to those who want to pursue a career in research, and higher academics.

Yes, you can do PhD in any subject. But the path is a little different. You have to apply for a dual degree programme in a college or university.

Phd Agricultural colleges in India:-

Assam Agriculture University, Jorhat

Aacharya N.G Ranga Agricultural University, Hyderabad

Vidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalay, Mohanpur

Indian Agricultural Statistics Research Institutes, Delhi.
