Re: Is india a super power?
India yet to become powerful. This target will be achieved only when the rate of export to foreign countries increases and the rate of imports reduces. For example, most of the thermal power plants are still borrowing/importing coal from Australia so and so. Aim is Export>Import. Then India becomes Super Power.

Re: Is india a super power?
India is not yet a superpower, but it stands on the threshold.
Today India is the eleventh fastest growing and vibrant economies in the world. With the strong growth rate, defense power and foreign influence it is the country that has the capacity to project dominating power and influence anywhere in the world. With the possessions of the fourth largest air force, third largest education system, second largest standing army, innumerous BPOs and KPOs and over 410,000 employees, India may plausibly attain the status of global hegemon one day. |

In my opinion...Being a super power..india has to meet its criteria...of utilising the resources to a great extent...but unfortunately till date...India has not been able to use its resources to the maximum extent/...

Re: Is india a super power?
Only having a good GDP is not enough for becoming a super power. A superpower should a strong influence in its region just like China has a strong over the Geopolitics of this region. Also we have a lot of people still living below poverty line.

Re: Is india a super power?
it should not be said that India is a super power just on the basis of human resources.
But India is recovering & emerging very well, so within a few year it may happen that India will be super power, because now a days the growth rate of India is very well. it may become super power, but right now it is not like a super power. |

Re: Is india a super power?
India still have a long way to go before becoming a super power.I think it would not be possible in the near future because of our corrupt political system. We are unable to deal with issues which are affecting the country's development.Poverty, population, corruption are the main culprits. These all should be controlled then only we can show the world who we are.

Re: Is india a super power?
how does it matter if a nation is a super power or not? why is there always a utilitarian mindset that ranks nations as first world and third world? We should simply be working for the welfare of the entire world as one unit and not fragmented parts, that is how the whole world will become a super-power so to say..

Re: Is india a super power?
If u find anyone saying that india is not a super power than think him as biggest foll of our country.
Even if India economically a step behind China ...but think on other side , money is not all for happiness and social development. In china there are various restriction on people like one child , media has no freedom....but do think all these happen in india ,,,,NO. Even US, EUROPPEAN countries GDP rates are decreasing for eg: gdp rate of US is just 2-3%. But china and India have 9-10%. These countries will surpass develpoed world in coming years. |

Re: Is india a super power?
India is not a super power yet. According to the "Vision India 2020" by our former president Dr.APJ Abdul Kalam can become true if and only if the present youth join our hands together and work for it. India is on its way to become the super power in the near future and we, people of India should be proud of it.
Its not only the responsible for the government, its also highly responsible for all the citizens of India. |

I am some what diss-appointed with those guyes who's vote was for "NOT YET". Well its depend on particular approach to this question.
India is among the fastest developing economy in the world and having largest manpower too. We all have experiance lots of technological and social development in our country since last 10 to 15 years. Bit by bit we are making best of us and trying to maintain world class level of economy. Please remember that even ferrari attain speed of 400 km/hr just by starting from "0" |

Re: Is india a super power?
India in its own is a super power having people willing to do extra works, the companies of private sectors developing rapidly and just due to the govt not working it is lacking in growth. Its of no use untill govt works with cooperation.
India really has talents and brilliant people who can affod anything and who can give more than what is expected... I can only say in commom terms for people who run the administration is "well you have the capability to do it but keep in mind the objective and the country" and for the people who do organizations "well even you have the capacity to design and do wat you like but keep in mind the administration and the country". |

Re: Is india a super power?
India is not a super power and will never be a super power if corruption goes on in the country.
India can't be called super power by just possessing nuclear weapons.India can be termed a super power if it progresses in all the fields like education, literacy, wealth, space research, development. We have seen scams, corruptions in all the sectors recently being the Common Wealth Games. So India will be a super power if we stop depending on other countries for its resources. |

Re: Is india a super power?
According to me india is not a super power now. so many people says that india is a super power due to its immense human resources but we can see the condition of these human resources. a close study says that about 43 % of our population is still illiterate. about 20 % fails to eat properly . so many talents are waiting for employment. look at these and tell me whether india is a super power or not.

Re: Is india a super power?
I believe that India is not yet Superpower.
But iam sure that with in short span of time India is going to be the super power. The evidence for this is the consistent increasing growth rate in economic development i.e. GDP and also decreasing in food inflation rate from the last 10 months consistently. So many investors are trying to invest more and more in India. Recently Barak Obama has also visited India. |
