Common Admission Test (CAT) is conducted by Indian Institute of Management to admit students in Post Graduation and other fellowship programs in Management. Score of CAT will be considered by almost 50 top Management and Business Schools of India. It is an online examination.

In this, student is tested in

• Quantitative Aptitude
• Reading Comprehension
• Verbal Ability
• Data Interpretation
• Data Sufficiency
• Logical Reasoning
• Problem Solving
• Quantitative Problems

Syllabus for CAT:

English/Verbal Ability:

It includes questions from,

• Reading comprehension
• Verbal reasoning
• Syllogisms
• Analogies
• Antonyms and Synonyms
• Fill in the blanks
• Sentence correction
•Idioms and more

Mathematics/Quantitative Ability:

It includes questions from,

• Number systems
• Geometry
• Trigonometry
• Probability
• Permutations and Combinations
• Algebra
• Mensuration
• Time and work
• Averages
• Percentages
• Profit and Loss
• Quadratic and Linear equations and more

Data Interpretation:

It includes questions from,

• Interpretation and analysis of data based on text
• Tables
• Graphs (line, area)
• Charts (column, bar, pie)
• Venn diagram and more

Logical Reasoning:

It includes questions from,

• Clocks
• Calendars
• Binary logic Seating Arrangement
• Blood relations
• Logical sequence
• Assumption
• Premise Conclusion
• Linear and Matrix arrangement and more

For more details syllabus please find the attached document.

Paper Pattern:

It contains total 123 questions for 120 marks as 3 sections.

First Section:

• 20 questions on Data Interpretation
• 6 questions on Data Sufficiency and
• 12 questions on Logical Reasoning.

For every correct answer 1 mark will be awarded.

Second Section:

• 20 questions from Mathematics problems that carry 1 mark each and
• 15 questions from the same that will hold 2 mark each.

Third Section:

• 10 questions on Verbal Ability that will carry 0.5 marks each
• 14 questions from the same that will carry 1 mark each and
• 5 questions from Verbal Ability that will carry 2 mark each.

In addition to this, the paper will also include 21 questions from Reading Comprehension and this will carry 1 mark each.
