Hello sir, i will be completing my B.Sc in computer science next year and am very much interested to join merchant navy. So could u plz help me out which all departments will be available in merchant navy for me as per my educational qualification ?

Yes. You can apply for Merchant Navy after completing graduation in computer science. But after that, you have to pursue a Diploma in Nautical Sciences course which can also be pursued*after 12th grade. After completing a Diploma in Nautical Sciences course, you can join the Merchant Navy as a Deck Cadet.

After completing your computer science degree, you can not directly apply for the Merchant Navy. But, to be eligible for this, you must then enroll in a Diploma in Nautical Sciences course, which is also available after class 12. You can become a Deck Cadet in the Merchant Navy after finishing a Diploma in Nautical Sciences degree.

For applying in Merchant Nevy, these are some eligibility conditions such as -

1 - In class + 1 you must have combination of physics, chemistry and maths.

2 - The selection is through screening test and a mains written examination.

3 - After mains examination there is interview and medical test.

4 - Candidate must have normal vision or glasses up to plus or minus 2.5.

5 - If you had done 12th with physics, chemistry and maths, then you can apply for merchant navy.

1. You can opt for specialisation in BTech or B.E according to their choices.

2. To work as a Deck Officer, a candidate will require a B.Sc in Nautical Science, which has a course duration of three or four years.

A candidate must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and maths with an aggregate score of 50 per cent or equivalent, from a recognised board. They should also pass a medical fitness test for sea service under standard norms and with eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness.
