It includes introduction to finite element analysis and its examples, one dimensional problems(stiffness methods, spring element and assemblage, boundary conditions types, finite element modeling, Potential energy approach, temperature effects), Two dimensional problems (planes truss structure, transformation, coordinates, element stiffness matrix, constant strain triangle, examples), scalar field problems (1-D steady state heat transfer, different approaches, boundary conditions, governing equations), finite element modeling and software(plane stress and strain, axisymmetric condition, MSC Nastran software introduction and analysis)

Paper Pattern: Question paper of Aeronautical Engineering on Finite Element Method has two parts. First part is part wherein candidates do not get any choices and have to answer a total of 8 questions with 4 marks each. Second part does have choices and candidates are supposed to answer four questions out of 8 given questions. 12 marks is what a candidate can score to the maximum in Part B.

Key Points: There will be a distinct upon all the topics. Particularly, case studies should be given more preference. Computational problems will be given. Problems will have a greater share than the theory. Questions can be expected from every unit.
