In Medical University like DR MGR in Tamil Nadu a diploma certificate is given to clinical pathology of which general and systematic pathology is an important subject. The old paper pattern is such that one answer 100 marks in 3 hours and all questions are compulsory. The first 2 questions carry 25 marks and the other one carries 50 (10*5) marks. Then pattern changed to 30 marks and 50 marks format. In new pattern 1st questions having 2 sub-questions holds 40 marks while 2nd question having 10 sub-questions holds 60 marks. The questions are such that one must rely on concepts as well as rote memory too, to score well. Concepts of treating lung tumors as well as radiation injury actions with changes in a human body afflicted with diabetes mellitus are tested too. One must know all about cancer complete with oncogenes and oncosuppresors as well as testicular tumors too. It’s not just about causative agents and causes with cures that are taught but the source of the disease must be known too.
