Qualification required for appearing the IPS exam ...please give me the details

Graduation is the basic qualification required. Age of the candidate must be less than 30 years. Physical standards are also necessary. Selection will be done through written test and interview. There will be physical efficiency test for IPS position.

To join Indian Police Service you will have to clear Civil Service Examination. This examination is conducted for Indian Police Service, Indian Forest Service, Indian Administrative Service etc.

The exam is conducted in two stage. First is the preliminary exam and second stage is main examination. To appear for this exam, candidate should have completed graduation. Otherwise he/she is not eligible to appear.

You can have bachelor degree in any stream and percentage. But it is essential to have graduation degree. There are some physical requirements also which you should meet.


IPS Eligibility

1. Candidate should be citizen of India.

2. Bachelor degree in any stream.

3. There is no percentage criteria.

4. The age limit is 21 years (minimum) and 30 years (maximum).

5. Three years relaxation in upper age limit for OBC.

6. Upto 5 years relaxation for SC and ST.


Physical Requirements for IPS

Height

Male - 165 cm (General/OBC/SC) and minimum of 160 cm (ST)

Female - 150 cm (SC/OBC/General) and 145 cm (ST)


Chest

Male Minimum 84 cm. Expansion 5 cm

Female Min 79 cm expansion 5 cm


Vision

6/6 or 6/9 distant vision for good eye

6/12 or 6/9 for worst eye

Eyesight is correctable via spectacles but not contact lens.

If suffering from color/night blindness, you are not eligible.
