IPS stands for Indian Police services and to become IPS officer you have to enrolled for UPSC Civil services examination. This examination is conducted for recruitment to various services like the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service and Indian Police Service, as well as Group A and Group B Central Services.

You have to complete your Graduate degree course to apply for this examination. Your age should between 21 to 30 years, upper age limit will be relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates, by 3 years for candidates of OBC.

This year Preliminary examination was already completed and Result was also Out and if you have missed the chance then wait for next year Recruitment.

The Notification Published in the month of February every year and you have to fill the application form online only.

You will get 4 attempts to cracked this examination if you belong to general category. Those who are belong to OBC will gets 7 attempts and no attempts for SC/ST candidates.

The selection is based on written test and the written test conducted in 2 parts, Preliminary and Mains. Preliminary examination is Objective and compulsory for all, those who cracked Preliminary are eligible for Main examination.

To sit for the IPS exam you need to possess a graduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university or institution. If you are in the final year or awaiting the result of your final exam then also you will be considered eligible for the preliminary exam. Before the main exam you have to show the proof of degree.

The minimum age limit for this examination is 21 years and the upper age limit is 30 years. There is age relaxation for the reserved categories.

For getting selected you have to cross a few hurdles: written exam, interview session and the physical test.

Eligibility for IPS exam
