VTU, Bangalore 1st Semester Physics Cycle- Elements of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics Papers is aimed at providing students with a sound base in the subject. Questions are to be expected from infrastructural development and what it implies, the need for planning and scheduling a project, concepts like R.C.C., what is meant by smart materials, total station, factors which impact the strength and durability of concrete, what is meant by remote sensing and so on. There are a number of questions on numerical and diagrams as well which make scoring in this paper easy and interesting. Other possible topics from which questions can be expected are coefficient of friction, uniform velocity, support of beams and their reactions, magnitude of force and so on. These are important conceptual topics which need to be understood by the student.
