IAS stands for Indian Administrative Services while IPS stands for Indian Police Service. Generally IAS is consider higher cadre than IPS .

A candidate one who want to become an IAS or IPS officer that candidates should take All India Civil Service exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission

IAS Officers got a job in Administration example like District Collectors, Reserve Bank Governors.

IPS officers got a job in Police Departments, jobs like Director of Intelligence Bureau, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police etc..

These jobs are based on performance and ranking all India Civil Service Exam, If you got a first rank you can opt for IAS officers jobs If you got a good rank you can get a good Rank job in those IAS or IPS services

A candidate one who want to get a job in IAS or IPS should all India Civil Service exam, This exam has three stages those are as follows All India Civil Services Preliminary Exam and All India Civil Service Mains Exam and Interview.

hi....!!!!

IAS:- The Indian Administrative Service is the administrative civil service of the Government of India. Indian Administrative Service officers hold key positions in the Union Government, State governments and Public Sector Undertakings. The Administrative Service is one of the three All India Services.

-->The Constituent Assembly of India intended that the bureaucracy should be able to speak freely, without fear of persecution or financial insecurity as an essential element in unifying the nation.

-->The Indian Police Service simply known as Indian Police or IPS, is one of the three All India Services civil services of the Government of India.

-->In 1948, a year after India gained independence from Britain, the Imperial Police (IP) was replaced by the Indian Police Service.

-->The IPS is not a law enforcement agency; rather it is a civil service in which officers are selected on the basis of professional merit as proven by competitive examinations, and to which all senior police officers are professionally identified.

-->Police officers are employed by the police departments of respective states of India.
